MS-3998/TE/LHC - Supply of MgB2Wire for the Superconducting Link Project at CERN
CERN have released a market survey for: MS-3998/TE/LHC - Supply of MgB2Wire for the Superconducting Link Project at CERN
This technical description concerns the supply of a total quantity of 150 km of MgB2 superconducting wire for the Superconducting Link Project at CERN. The present market survey will be followed by the issue of an invitation to tender to qualified firms in February 2014 for a contract to start in April 2014.
The supply consists of a minimum length of 150 km of MgB2 multi-filamentary superconducting wire with the following guaranteed characteristics/performance:
- External diameter of the wire smaller than 1 mm;
- Minimum critical current, at 25 K and in an external field of 0.5 T, of 400 A;
- Minimum bending radius of the wire after final heat treatment smaller than 100 mm;
- Critical tensile strain, at room temperature, of the wire after final heat treatment above 0.3 %;
- Minimum unit length of conductor equal to 500 m.
Market surveys are a precursor to calls for tender and designed to identify suitable companies. Only companies that meet the requirements at the market survey stage will be invited to tender. It is very difficult (and many times not possible at all) to include a company at the call for tender stage if they have not responded at the market survey stage. My role is to find UK companies to respond to CERN tenders.
If you are interested, please reply to Allanah at: email@example.com with your full contact details and address. I will send you the documentation to review and if you think you would like to respond, your details will be passed to CERN who will note your interest and send you the information directly.
The deadline to return the information to CERN is 12th February 2014, so please reply ASAP.
