The Entegra Corporation Model 1450 Ultra-High Speed Reference Pulse Generator with Differential Outputs provides step-like pulses with 9 ps transitions and 50 GHz (-3 dB) bandwidth. It may be triggered from external trigger sources with 80 MHz to 6 GHz pulse repetition rate. Pulse amplitude is typically -550 mV.

The Model 1450 Ultra-High Speed Reference Pulse Generator with Differential Outputs was designed to provide pulses suitable to calibrate oscilloscopes with up to 50 GHz bandwidth. It provides both a short positive and negative transition duration (typical positive going transition duration (risetimes) are 11 ps and typical negative going transition durations (falltimes) are 9 ps). It exhibits a low short term settling error of less than 1% in 10 nanoseconds. The complementary outputs switch between -550 mV and 0 V and exercises the inputs of sampling oscilloscopes by supplying a pulse that is up to 75 % of the operating input range of the oscilloscope.

The Pulse Head is attached to the Mainframe by a 0.9 m (3 foot) long cable pair that allows the pulse head to be connected to oscilloscope input without any intervening cables that can slow the pulse transition. The two output connectors are male 1.85 mm coaxial connectors designed to mate with most ultra-high speed oscilloscope inputs without an adapter.

The Trigger-Delay Conditioner (mainframe) includes an internal 100 MHz trigger source and also accepts an external trigger from either a pulse or sine-wave source. Either trigger source is conditioned to provide the trigger for the oscilloscope.
